How do you play pSX games on a PS2 with duo chip? Not swap magic

I burned the img file with dvd decrypter at 4x to a cdr and it won't boot?

with the duo 2 you need to put the game in the tray & close it, then turn off the ps2 using the button on the front, then turn it back on & keep holding the on button until you see the psx screen.

just a quick note - my ps2 (with duo2) will not play psx back ups (it plays originals). i was told i would have to adjust the laser to get it to work, i never bothered as it reads ps2 cd fine & i didn't want to mess that up, i just bought me a psx for $25.

i hope this helps

from what I know holding it as long as gjl says would turn the mod off. I think the proper way is, put the machine in standby with the ps1 backup in the tray (red light on the reset button with ps1 backup in there) then you press and hold the reset button until you see the blue eject button come on. gjl, I think you were not able to boot ps1 backups because you were turning the mod off.

so you're saying that ps1/psx backups can be played with a duo chip?

so just hold the reset button while the ps1 game is in the tray and it should boot?

ya, its not working its not booting. Should it be a dvd or does cdr work? do I need a special program for it to read ps1/psx games?

@WEstar - that was the instructions i had when i bought my chip to hold until the psx screen came on, although what you said does make sense.
i just checked the instructions from the website & they have changed it to what you said.
i stand corrected, thanks for pointing that out, i will have to try my psx games again & see if they work now lol

thanks buddy

no problem man, too bad they gave you bad instructions to begin with.. made you go out and buy a ps1 for no reason.

the psx & ps1 are the same, just that the ps1 was the newer smaller model, but they both play the same games.

as for it not working you may need to adjust the cd laser screw
heres a link to explain how -
http://www.psxtune.com/psx2/specialse.html

before you try that, give the laser a clean see if that helps
