When will they release them in the US? I know they've been released in Japan, I'm just ancious to get one!

Are you refering to Blu-ray or just plan HD players?

According to articles I've read, it was originally set to be released on March 28 with two different models ranging in the prices of US$499 for the HD-A1 and US$799 for the HD-XA1. However, Toshiba delayed the release and will hopefully be available by mid-April of this month providing nothing comes up again.

Yes all Blu-ray and HD-DVD playes play DVDs. In fact they are able to upconvert the standard def DVDs to somthing that looks alot more plesant on big screen tvs.
