I've been having a horrible time trying to get my mini-DVD's to boot on my Gamecube with the Max Drive Pro. I get three beeps and then nothing. I can't decide if it's my burner, my DVD's, or the POT on my cube.

Anyway, I need something that'll work every time and I'd rather not hard mod my cube.

So since I already have a Max Drive, is there anyway to use it to stream a game from my computer (like the PSO hack?) While I don't have a broadband adapter either, I've always wanted one (GC Linux) and they're readily availble.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

What are you using to boot back-ups with the MDP?

If you're using GCOM or GCoS with no luck, you'll probably need to tweak the pot.

Also, what burner, media, and burning application are you using?

I'm using:
- NEC ND1100A (firmware hack)
- Dynex Mini DVD-R's
- Nero 7.0

But yeah, I should probably tweak the pot. Don't I need a special screwdriver or something?

Actually, you still haven't answered my first question. Are you trying to play back-ups with a normal MDP or did you load a soft mod on it such as GCoS or GCOM?

If you're trying to load back-ups with a normal MDP it's not going to work regardless of what burner, media, and app you're using.

Anyway, the NEC should be fine, although I doubt the quality of Dynex since it's rather cheap in comparison to say, Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. Also, Nero 7 has little to no success with GC back-ups, so I'd stay away from that. Nero 6 and ImgBurn work well enough though.

And yeah, you'll need a special screwdriver to open the GC, unless you try doing that BIC pen method many have grown to love. Just make sure you either replace the screws or slice a line in it so you won't have to worry about getting them out with a special tool again.

I've tried GCoS 1.3 - 1.5. That's interesting though, no Nero 7? Who'd have thought? I'll try the new software and post my results.

Nope, still no luck with ImgBurn. Because my drive uses a modded firmware, I've already eBay'd a cheap DVD-R burner. Now I guess I'll just need to give some new media a try.

Yeah, trying top quality media is a good idea.

Just wanted to let you guys know...

Dynex works fine! It turns out that my burner was the problem. A $12 one of EBay was all I needed.
