Do I have to Decrypt the DVD before I use DVD shrink?

Will dvd shrink shrink the dvd to 4.3 iso with the protections on it? or do I have to decrypt first?

Shrink will still rip numerous movies without help, however there are some newer movies that have Sony ARccOS, Puppetlock and Ripguard on them that Shrink cannot do on its own. For those you must either use DVDFab Decrypter (free) to rip to your HDD. DVD43 running in the background also free, or AnyDVD which has a free trial of 21 days and then is pay and also works in the background with Shrink

Instead of Dfab can I just use DVD Decrypter?

Also how will I know know when DVD Shrink won't work? is there someindator they I will know that I will have to Decrypter first?

DVDDecrypter is no longer being updated, and it will not do some of the newer protected movies, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Fog, and Chicken Little to name a few. You will need DVDFab Decrypter to handle these or DVD43/AnyDVD.
