This is just to share an installation-experience.

I got the mentioned modchip, and happily took my PS2 apart (well, happily at first, the happiness slipped abit after struggeling getting the mobo exposed). Fastened the dangly-things, no problem. Taped the chip down in the open space, and put it back together again. Of course, nothing happened when I turned the power on.
Always the optimist, I opened it (much faster this time) and started troubleshooting. Everything seemed in place, so I checked the net for advice. After digging and trying I found that pressure on the chip might be the problem. Alleviating any pressure I could find, the problem still persisted.
Then I noticed that if I lifted the metal shield it worked. Poking around, I found that the shield pressed down on the Eject-chip. Trying various things to prevent this being pushed down, I settled on a probably not-too-conventional solution - I sawed the offending part off! I took my trusty Dremel, and carefully brutally cut an opening so that the Eject was free. Putting it took only a minute, and when powering up - success!
Now I just hope it won't interfere with any harddrives I might put in it ^_^

LOL I had a similar experience after installing mine last week... I didn't go to the drastic measures you did tho... I just left a screw out which seemed to help :-)

I just finished installing the DMS4-EZI Lite chip in my version 5 ps2 and when i put it back together and booted it up i got nothing...literlly. There is no signal from my PS2, my TV is showing "No Usable Signal" and the eject of the PS2 is very choppy (goes in and out by itself). Do you have any idea what is causing this, i assume the eject problem could be similar to yours but the output problem is really throwing me off. Is it possible that a problem with the chip could be causing it.

Any help would be great.

Try to start the PS2 while taken as much apart as possible. I booted it with both the casings off and all the connector-thingies dangling all over the place. Don't screw the screws in either, this way you can try to lift the edge where the eject-cable goes up a few millimeters. Try to hold it lifted like that (carefully, ofc) and start it. Be careful with the powersupply - I don't know how healthy it would be to get smacked with a little electricity...

Would the DMS4 EZI work well for my V-4 PS2?

I here it does work on the V4 however there is some sort of adaptor kit that you will need.
