Ok this is the situation. I have 2 PS2's one a V4(unchipped) one a V9(chipped). The V9 is no longer working(laser moves up and down and forward on tracks but disc will not spin so the laser isn't reading). When it was working i used the Independence Exploit to put the a copy of the original HDadvance on MC and booted with a PS1 cd. These days i have the real HDA 2.0 disc but it doesn't work with all games, specifically Sims 2 will freeze up at the loading screen when you try to start a game.

So that leaves me with a working V4 PS2 and a memory card that may still have the MC exploit on it(i haven't used the exploit in a long time since i bought HDA 2.0 so i may have deleted it by now). I think i will breakdown and buy the current HDLoader disc eventually but money is tight right now so here is my question. If i compile and burn a new exploit disc with HDA 3.0/HDL 0.7C can i use the knife trick to run and install the disc to my MC on my unmodded V4? Can my HDadvance 2.0 disc be used to run and install the exploit disc to my MC?

I'm guessing the answer is no but wanted to run the ideal past you guys in case i missed something in the months since i did the exploit last.

If the Exploit is on your MC and specifically ElfLaunch or an elf launching ELF then yes you can access a Hard Drive. Also why use the disc HDAvanced? Just get the ELF version of it or use the "dms-hdd-format.elf" http://www.dms3.com/cgi-bin/dms3/site.pl?page=downloads and load it using your exploit memory card. Remember you have to have the original PS1 Game you used way back when, when you installed the exploit. Otherwise you will had to re patch the SLUS in your TITLE.DB file. OMG! This is scary I actually know what I am talking about considering I just started looking into Exploits for my PS2 2 weeks ago. I am so far back in life of PS2 exploiting scene.

LOL

Well at least thanks for trying to help me solarstar, now let me clear something up for you. When i mentioned the Independence Exploit that i have on my MC...well the thing with that exploit is that it allows you to use ANY PS1 game to boot the ELF file from the MC. Do a search for it to learn more on it.

My question also has less to do with knowing about the exploit and more to do with knowing if there has been found any way to install an HDA 3.0 or HDL 0.7C ELF exploit to my MC with my only working PS2 (the unchipped V4 one). Can it be done with knife trick/card swap method? Can it be done thru the HDD? Anybody know or have any insight on doing this?

As you have the original HDA you could build an exploit disc and load it to your HDD from your computer then boot it with HDA so it installs the exploit.

Again i don't have the original HDA disc, i DL'd the original's elf file and used it until i actually bought HDA 2.0. So i do have the HDA 2.0 disc. Are you saying i could compile the HDA 3.0/HDL 0.7C exploit on my computer, move or copy that file/folders to my HDA 2.0 HDD(how?), stick the HDD back in my PS2, and use the HDA 2.0 disc to somehow load the exploit into my MC from off the HDD?

Walk me thru this or link me somewhere with the steps.

By original i meant pressed. So yes you can create an exploit cd install it to your HDD with WINHIIP and then load it up with you pressed hdadvanced. If youve got the CD disc for HDA 2 then use this guide http://www.exploitstation.com/articles/hdloader_independence.php (burns to cd)
if you dont have the CD disc then try making the exploit disc. And loading it off the HDD.
