Hi there

I have most of my DVDs backed up to MPEG4 and burnt to DVD-R (I mean this litterally - I have a 2 year old son so keep the originals well out of his way)

Just had my yamada dvd/mpeg player die on me but before I replace it does anyone know if it is possible to play MPEG4 on the PS2 - specifically without having to specially burn the disc with a player on it.

Yes, it is possible using PS2 Reality Player I believe it's called... I have tried it out and it worked for quite a few DivX/XviD files I had, however some didn't (I think it was the way I burned it though). I don't have the URL handy, but just do a google or yahoo search for it and you should be able to find it somewhere.

Oh and yes the prog does allow you to play dvds without having to put a player on each one... you just have to have some method of loading a backup cd/dvd for PS2 Reality Player.
