Don't know if anyone can help me with this, but it's weird... When burning an audio track to a Memorex 700mb cd-rw, the audio track is picking up defects several times a second!

I've written plenty of CD-Rs, DVD+R/RWs on the drive (a sony DW-U12A) with no problems but this is the first time I've tried a CD-RW.

To try it out, I generated a 1khz test signal in .wav format, burnt it to the CDRW and read it back. The read-back copy contains hundreds of defects which playback as pops and clicks - although the write reported no problems!

I've erased the disc and tried again, even tried another disc from the same pack but still the same problem! Is it the drive (firmware issue?), media or what?

Has anyone else come across this?

Rich
