AVI files to DVD?

When I try to drag files in Nero StartSmart it says "No compatible file found". Why is this? What do I need to do to prevent this from coming up?

Hi there.

You will get this type of error if you attempt to create a DVD-Video directly with avi files.

In order to do this, you will first need to convert those avi files to DVD compatible MPEG-2 video files and then author the DVD. After those steps have been taken, you can burn a DVD-Video compilation with Nero that will playback in a standalone DVD player.

There are several programs that will do this for you.
To convert, I personally use Avi2DVD. I prefer authoring with a program like DVDlab because it creates menus and other features but you can also use a free and simple program called IfoEdit.
