Derailed - stops half way through analysis

When using Shrink it just stops a little over half way through the analysis phase. The DVD drive light stays on and nothing happens. I have also tried to use DVD fab and the same thing happens about 2/3 the way through, the light stays on the DVD drive and nothing else happens. The computer will work fine. It is like in an endless loop. I have cleaned the disc. And it also plays fine. Any thoughts on what is happening? Thanks

This is the only time it has happened. I am burnig a disc right now with out any problems. I have burned several disc before this without any problems.

Sounds like the protection is an invalid sector thrown in to specifically give you a bad read. John123 notes in a bunch of threads the newest version AnyDVD fixes this new protection by more or less fixing the bad sector and bypassing.

You have the latest version of AnyDVD and you're still running into this problem? Hmmm...that's weird.

How about your drive? Is it up to date with firmware? Derailed is a newer movie. Maybe your firmware is outdated.

i used AnyDVD 5941 with vobblanker and shrink and then burnt to dvd with dvddecrypter no problems at all even tho i do movie only for higher compression i dont need the other bs on the disks

I bought derailed yesterday and couldn't back it up. I found this thread and today I downloaded AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 from Slysoft. I am still not able to rip this DVD.

Any further suggestions?

If you update to the newest version and use the new ripper feature you will not have to use VobBlanker. AnyDVD use FixVTS which is a lite version of VobBlanker as it corrects the structural error also

If you are using the newest version then use the ripper feature in AnyDVD and rip the DVD to HD and then use CloneDVD2. I backed it up using PGCEdit w/ the PSL2 plug-in. If it fails using the ripper function then you probably have a bad Mastering Press and the movie needs to be returned for exchange

I have the latest AnyDVD and CloneDVD having just downloaded them today from Slysoft. I tried using AnyDVD to rip to the hard drive. I have tried to clone the DVD and also tried to get just the main movie (uncompressed) using AnyDVD+CloneDVD. I went to this process because PGCEdit with the PSL plugin didn't work. I have tried DVDDecrypter and DVDFabDecrypter with and with AnyDVD (and before that with DVD43, which I uninstalled when I loaded AnyDVD). DVDShrink and Nero Recode don't work with DVD43 or AnyDVD.

I am also having the similar problems with Memoirs of a Geisha. DVDDecrypter says it is ripped but playing it back shows only a blank screen with no sound.

I have the same issues on 2 systems with Plextor and NEC burners, both internal and USB, and all with the layest firmware as of today.

Both play fine on my Pioneer Elite DVD player. This has become a challenge at this point.
