Hi,
I have a softmodded xbox (bought like it) and I am trying to connect to it via FTP. When I plug the ethernet cable in no LEDS come on. It would appear that there is no conection at all. A light doesn't even appear on my router.
If I go into the xbox settings the icon at the top of the network settings page says 'no link' it does the same if I use DHCP or static. Should I be using different settings ??. I know my setup (network) is fine as my 360 connection to XBL is fine and so is this PC I am connected to the net on.
Any ideas?

Hi,
OK, did all that and still no joy. I have tried both ways (DHCP & STATIC) and nothing. What is worrying is there are no lights on the ethernet port lighting up on the back of the xbox. Does a softmod stop these working or could even the type of softmod stop this working?
Not really sure where to go from here. There are no other settings to play with
Any ideas?

Hi,
Now theres the question. As I bought the xbox used it was already modded so I just dont know if it has been xposed to live or not.
As for the dashboard I am also unsure. Sorry to be a bit thick but I am new to modding. The dash is blue in colour and has an xbox symbol in the middle of the screen and some buttons shaped around it. In the apps menu there are things like:
Config Magic
Bios Checker - crashes if I try and run it
Complex Tools
DVD-x2 dongle free playback
All the above seem to have an UNLEASHED-X brand except the Configmagic.

on PC go to local area network and then properties, then selec properties of IP/TCP. what do you have there

Tried those settings = no joy. I saved all the settings and when I rebooted it has gone back to 192.168.1.11 but all other settings are blank
The PC is running on full DHCP
For your ref my router is running:
192.168.1.1 (Gateway)
DNS1 - 194.168.4.100
DNS2 - 194.168.8.100
Subnet - 255.255.255.0

No I don't have any other dashboards. My trouble is, I bought it used and I dont know what the guy has done before me !!
Do you think it would be a good idea to remove the mod and run with something like EVO? kind of start from a fresh approach.
OR
I am considering going for the xecuter 2.6 or 3 - should I wait install this and go from there with a whole fresh install (new HDD, dash board etc)?

I am not sure what you mean by other dashboard???
In the main menu there is an option for MS dashbard! If I click that thou the xbox resets itself and then comes up with a bacl screen with green writing (lot of different languages) saying ' SERVICE REQUIRED. CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT'

what's up MD,
You helped me earlier,360 HDD, thanks a lot man.
I used the ethernet cable I got with my DSL and it didn't work, but I used one from radio shack and it worked. I used cat5E 24 awg from radio shack. Maybe that will work. It only costs like ten bucks.

Hey return?
There are also a load of files to do with Xbox media centre. This seems to load up ok and run but as I can't FTP anything to the xbox I would have to do it all via CD.
I think it could be a fault with the xbox itself.

So you think that will help ?? you said the light doesn't come on when you plug it in. I have both cables right here I can check it for you. Yeah I tried the cable that came with the DSL doesn't slide in all the way and the light doesn't come on. I think that might be your problem. The cable from radio shack is perfect.

I have now tried 6 cables now and none work. I am going to open the xbox up tomorrow and see whats what !!!!

I have found the issue ......
Would you believe that the port on the router is not working !! There are 12 ports (all used) on my router and I happened to choose one that is not working. What are the chance of that happening !???!?
