Ive just burned my first backup of gt4 from the original dvd9 shrinked to dvd5 & plays fine on my ps2, (one of the first ps2's that came out) tried so many different toturials (double checked) but was having that black screen problem then the memory check
crap & stopped there, i was burning at 4x using maxell dvd-r/+r/booktype to dvd-rom & was failing until i burned at 1x then success only on my machine, but for some strange
reason the backup copy burned at 1x & 4x was not picking up on my mates ps2 slim line with an infinity modchip & tried it on another same ps2 but no luck, what could be the problem? is there something a little different i could try? been working on this for weeks now, PLEASE HELP

You need to have a Dual Layer burner to attempt this . You could try getting an original copy of the game and making an image of it yourself, and then patch it yourself.

1)Rip the game using DVD Decryptor if you can still find the app.
2)Download and use the Toxic Dual Layer Patcher to make it readable on your PS2.
3)Burn the image with DVD Decryptor at 1x.

If you havn't used these programs before, they are semi-easy to use. There are plenty of guides available for Decryptor for ripping DVDs. With the patcher, you tell it the location of the game image and it will patch it for you.

If you are willing to waste another DVD, you can try burning the DVD-5 image that you have with DVD Decryptor at 1x. The is a great app and has given me many flawless burns (compared to Nero and Alcohol 120%).

Thanks for the reply, ive tested it on a few other slim line ps2's & they all play GT4, maybe it was the modchip not playing DVD9 backups on DVD5 on the previous 2 that didnt work.
