csummer ,
The log is telling you the burner does not like the blank media you are using. Try Verbatim ot Taiyo Yuden as TDK is pretty low quality. It tried to write the lead-in and failed

Hey guys, just passing thru and noticed the error message Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format

csummer,
Two questions, have you been using DVD-R disks all along and is your burner a multiformat burner? I could be wrong, but the error displayed would suggest that the burner does not recognize the -R format and will only write to +R disks.

If I'm wrong, try updating the firmware as updates add addition media compatibility.

Yesterday I got this error message before it was time to insert blank disc, previously I had been gettin it with the blank media in but this time i got it while decrypting. I went out and brought new disc yesterday but I am still having this problem. I have previously burned using decrypter and shrink with no problem.

dip2000 ,
Below is the NEC firmware update site for that burner as the blank media might not be recog.'d by the burner since the burner is a older burner. I have the same burner out in the Shop and it still works but I still have some older 4X blank media around. The newer blank media when inserted gives me the same problem but NEC is not going to update it as they would want you to buy a new burner instead.

You also might try cleaning the lens of the burner to see if that helps.

To copy a copy of a movie you can use DVDDecrypter in .iso mode
Mode>.iso>read then Mode> iso> write

I too have a NEC 1300a and it is still chugging along and burns on most media. Even burned on 16x Fuji +R and Verbatim 16x -R, although it is not too sure on the media it still worked. However I do not use the drive for ripping as it is too slow and also is a USB.

You should be able to use the Sony disks with no problem, I have used Sony with mine. What is the current fw on the NEC, is it up to date? You can check it through DVDDecrypter using the Tools tab/Drive/Capabilities. Also, the original disk you were trying to do, did you get the I/O error on the rip?
