Hey everyone. I just got a Sony Dru-500ax and I got some Ritek dvd-r from my friend. Those had a dark purple bottom. Then I bought a spidle of Ritek dvd-r and those bottoms are lighter purple in color. What is the difference between the dark purple ritek and the lighter purple ritek? any help will be great, thanks

Dark purple ones are called GO3 Riteks and are better. Where did you buy the light purple riteks by the way?

I didn't know they made light purple ones.
Do they have Ritek written on them?
What is the lead in code?

not sure what you mean by lead in code, but the disks each have a serial number, each starting with A2VK4309L123. also are the light colour riteks better then princo disks?

Put a blank in the drive and start dvd decrypter
change it to ISO 'read' mode
In the right hand panel will be a load of info.

The lead in code will look like 'RITEK G03'
(except they aren't G03's if they are light purple)

Let us know what it is.

Hey malum. I did what you said and the only difference from teh dark purple one and the light purple one is that the dark purple one has a Manufacturer ID = RITEKG03 and the light purple one has a Manufacturer ID = LD. Does this mean the light purple ones are not ritek? did i get ripped off? what brand are the light purple ones? let me know, thanks

I don't know what LD is (someone will) but it doesn't sound like Ritek does it?

I have some DVDOn that are LD and ACCU are LD. I think from another forum I saw that they are all Lead Data.I have a Pioneer A05 with a 100% burn record. Burns everything. DVDPro 1x2x4x and Ritek4x are the Best. Try AllMedia

You have pretty much established that they are not ritek but another way to check would be the serial number on the inner plastic ring. It should read XX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, two xx's then a dash then another 16 x, (x are numbers). Also another way would be the color, Ritek uses a dark purple dye.
