Hi there. Can i boot the hd advance software from my memory card at all so I will not have to use the cd/dvd.

Yes, either via the Dev mode of a modchip or a memory card exploit.

i have heard about memory card exploits but all the tutorials are all so very different. How can i get data onto my memory card without having a reader??

You have to already have some sort of mod in order to get the Exploit onto the MC

You can download the program Independence Compiler 3.0 from here

it's fairly easy to use and it will make an Exploit Disc for you that will load the MC Exploit directly to your MC..

if you need the actual ELF files for Hdadvance or HDLOADER you can find those here http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=hd.html

What is elf file???

No that is just a skin I use for Hdloader so it's not a real App

Elf files are the program files that I used to make exploits of particular programs for.. so if you have HD Advance Elf you can use it to put HD Advance on the MC

while i agree an installation disk via a modded console is the easiest way to install the exploit it can be done via a USB memory manager program and can also be FTPd to the memory card (a real pain in the ass). it's usually easier to get someone to install one for you. if you cant get anyone to do it for you, i'll do it free of charge if you provide the MC, just PM me if you'd like.

I've tried EVERYTHING to get the mem-card exploit to work and it never does.

I've got a DMS4 EZI-Lite installed in my V-10 PS2, and I've got the hard drive installed with some games on it. I can run HD Loader from disc no problem.

I've tried to ftp the file to the memory card, and I've tried the Independence Compiler many, many times. I have no problem getting the file onto the memory card, but when I go into the DMS settings and change boot method to Dev.MC (I forget the actual wording, but it's the Devolution Memory Card mode for sure) and it just boots to the Memory Card manager in the PS2 system instead of running HD Loader.

I'm sure I've got the right elf files as I've tried it a million times. It's just as easy for me to boot with the HD Loader disc in the drive, but a totally disc-less boot would be cool.

my best guess would be you didn't name the file correctly for a MC Dev boot. it has to be mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF

make sure you name your loader BOOT.ELF, and put it in the folder BOOT on the MC in the far left slot (mc0) and then either hold triangle while booting or have the Toxic settings to MC Dev as your default boot.
