My gamecube disc is not spinning. The laser turns on but the the disc does nto spin. The pot was at 210 ohms and I adjusted it to 90 ohms. Still it does not spin. What is the cause for this? please help.

If it can't detect the disc, that means that either the pot is way out of adjustment or that your laser is just completely dead.

Try increasing it to around 400 ohms and drop in 50 ohm increments until the disc is read or once you get to 100 ohms. If the disc never spins up, your laser is probably dead.

Can you still play originals or is it doing it with those as well?

It will not spin at all. The laser is a bright red. It does light up like it is working. I have tried increasing to 400 and when down to 15 ohms. It still did not work. What will casue the gamecube to not spin?

If it doesn't spin at all, either the laser or motor is dead. If the laser can't detect that the disc is there, it won't tell the motor to spin, which is why I said the laser's more than likely dead.

It's also why I asked if original games worked (store brought, pressed by a machine, etc.). If originals don't work, the laser is most definitely dead.

Or you scratched the hell out of your lens, which will do the same thing as a busted laser.

So did you do it in 50 ohm increments, or did you just try 400 and 15 ohms? That's not the way to go about it...

It will not read store bought original disc either. I tried 400, went to 190, went to 100, then I went to 15 ohms. If the laser is bad the laser would not shine bright red. Right?

It doesn't matter if the laser shines or not, if it can't read the disc then it's either damaged (the laser diode crapped out) or the lens is dirty/scratched to hell.

You could always try cleaning it with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

IMO, putting it down to 15ohms could have killed it straight.
