PS2 Warranty Claim??

I have model schp 750001 and after posting on here a few times with problems of in game crashing and the machine being very tempermental, leaves me wondering. The PS2 is under warranty for another 9 months it plays originals ok but not back-ups should I try my luck and see if I can get it exchanged?
The question I would like to know is, Can they test to see if I have used back-ups in it? Also If I burn the laser out before the warranty runs out will I be ok to claim? As I have a rubbish laser in this by all accounts.

Have you been using swap magic or a modchip. I would gues that if your using swap magic then no, i dont think they would be able to guess :) I have no idea about the question with the laser tho.

I am using swap magic with part e therefore I havent opened up my ps2. I wasnt sure if they tested the laser to see what its been used for.
