Hey, I'm a nebie to this site, so I'd really appreciate any tips you guys could give me on a problem I'm having with burning the Chronicles of Narnia DVD.

After I use VOB Merge to connect the 25 VOB files into one; I used 3GP Converter to convert the file into .avi format. Then I tried to play the file in iTunes.

Unfortunately, upon playing the video, I only got visual pictures, NO audio, and figured I must have missed some codec or something. Annoying thing is, when I ripped the DVD to a folder on my desktop, the folder had to subfolders in it "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS," and the AUDIO folder was empty.

Any way you guys can point me towards adding audio to the visuals I've already got?

Thanks so much for any help you can give me. :-)

KenaKaku,
Welcome to the forum. The reason no one has answered is we do not use those Programs.

There is no audio on the other folder as that is streamed w/ the video. The reason for the 2 folders is some of the older players will not play the DVD w/o the 2 folders.

Did you try and play the .AVI files to see if the audio is there. If the .AVI files play and sounds OK then something you did w/ the conversion made the audio go out. Did you uncheck the audio by mistake

Thanks for your thorough response. All I can think is that I only had the VOB MERGE program combine all the VOB files. There were a few others there, like IFOs, etc. Maybe the audio was in one of those.....??

I have a question then.....

What programs would you recommend I use to rip a DVD on to my PC, and then convert it (preferably via 3GP Converter) to a format my video iPod can play?

Do you have a program (or group of programs) that you think could do the job? Any options would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Kaku

KenaKaku,
The files you saw:
.Vob= Movie,
.ifo= information files( that is the file the contains the info about the vob file that the player uses, tells the player which .vob to play next),
.bup= backup file

CloneDVD Mobile should do what you need. I think there is a trial version. Check here to see if purchase discount is still on. Try the trial version first to see if you like it.

I would use DVDFAB Decrypter to rip the files to HD and then use VobBlanker to correct any structure problems or:

Use AnyDVD to rip the DVD to HD

I think then you can process it w/ CloneDVD-Mobile
