Alright folks.. Is there something I don't know about the Back up process while using the DVD shrink..?

1. I have the Nero suite... (version # AUR)

2. DVDshrink

a. open disc
b. anaylize
c. back up.. but when I try to back up to my DVD writer (E: drive) it wont give me the option to. The only option it gives me is back up as a ISO image or On to the C: drive..

*even when I say sure back up to hard drive I re open DVDshrink open folder find movie.. ect.. then I try to back up again and still nothin... WTF?

I've seen the correct way done on a friend of mines puter but it wont work on mine.. whats the prob??

By odd chance does it have to be a sony disc drive or any odd thing like that???

When you select backup in shrink, click the down arrow for "Select Backup Target" and see if there isn't an option for "ISO Image File and burn with Nero" or something to that effect. I don't have Nero, but I do have an option for "... burn with DVD Decrypter".

First, if you're trying the have shrink autoburn with nero, there are two things you need to do:

1) Must have nero installed on you PC.
2) Must have the burn with nero option check in DVD shrink's preferences.

To do this, run shrink and goto:edit-->preferences, click on the File I/O tab and put a check in the burn with nero box. Once this is done, you should see an option to send the file to your burner under the nero option in shrink when backing up.

Second, if you have shrink save an ISO image file to disk, the only way shrink will find it (or recognize it) is to choose the open disk image option...in shrink goto:file-->open disk image, browse to where the ISO file is located and choose it to open it.

If you have DVD decrypter installed on your PC, you can also choose to have shrink autoburn to disk using DVD decrypter. For the Select Backup Target option, choose "ISO Image File and burn with DVD decrypter".

Note: If you're running any OS skinning software that changes the appearence of windows, don't, they hide some of shrink's backup options. Turn then off or uninstall them.

Thanks for the help.

I verified that Nero was "checked" and it was. It still didn't recognize my DVD burner when I pulled down the "select backup target" I've seen it done on a friends puter.... Not sure what's the deal.. I've unistalled and re-installed still no change.

keep it comin!

Try uninstalling DVD Shrink then reinstall it, something may of gone wrong with the initial install.

To make sure the file you have isn't corrupt and that you're using the latest version, get a fresh download here;

You might also want to try uninstalling the IDE channel the drive is connected to, then reboot, the IDE channel will be reinstalled and the drive be re-detected by the OS. You should also make sure that the drive has DMA mode enabled for best performance. Here's a guide if needed;
