The capture card I have access to is in a junker PC.
No hard drive in it, just a bunch of old I/O cards.

With the board in hand, is there a way or sources for
software to run the thing by brand or board identification?

Does anyone have a software compatibility list and sources
by board brand name/number?

My OS is Windows 98SE-- about the same generation as the
board. Install setup is a Tyan Trinity board. PII 400 MHz.

I haven't got the thing in hand yet, but shortly.

Will come back with chipset info then.

The board was in a home machine so it was maybe
a Haupague (whatevs) or an ATI.

What sort of software is available for download to
set up such things? I'm going to assume it's some
kind of prog with a start/stop button to begin
and end recording like an audio line in ripper.

How is a file type specified such as .AVI?

Lots of questions on this. I'd prob'ly need a guide
or manual to do the physical plugging as well.

Thanks for answering

Today I have the capture voard in question and can
relate the product details. it is an oldie but a goodie
(I hope.)

Haupague WinTV (1998)

61381 rev D133

sn 1250526

Connections are:

FM
TV
line out
dtv/s vid
line in
IR

Chipset number is IM
MSP 3430G-PS-A1
31-HO-PA
068409001 8453'

The goal of using this is to capture VHS
from a VHS player to a digital file, preferably AVI
for use with such programs as Nero Vision Express
to record to dvd.

I'm a noob at doing any of this.

Please tell what I need to get this thing going.

So far I have used the product number to find
and download the driver.zip for the device.

Open source or freeware progs only will be used with
this device. Please tell where such programs for this
device might be obtained.

I will check in with the Haupague site to see if
I can learn anything there.
