OK I LOST THE LOST REINSTALL DISK FOR XP...IT SUCKS

..UM MY PC IS BASICALLY SCREWED BECAUSE I GOT MY BACKGROUND HACKED AND WHEN I GET ON MY PC THERE ARE SO MANY POP UPS IT SO SLOW IT TAKES LIKE 30MINS TO JUST BOOT SO I NEED TO FIGURE THIS OUT.. I NEED HELP ...............

I WANT TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A WAY TO REINSTALL WINDOWS WITH OUT HAVING TO BUY XP AGIAN ..BECAUSE I WOULD SORDA LIKE TO SAVE $200...

IF THIS HELPS I HAVE A DELL DIMENSION 2350 ..AND WINDOWS XP HOME ED.

Ok,now that i've gotten that out of the way, what do you mean with "i got my background hacked" ?
Be more specific, calm down, and give us some details as to what exactly is going on, how you think it happened, etc.

If your windows is still running with a fair ammount of stabilty (apart from the "back ground hacking") then theres a way to make your own windows xp installation cd, the people at Dell told this to my bro and he did it just fine.

An yeh, i bet it realy does suck :(

Btw, you need to have your orriginal or atleast a legit xp license key before you even think of trying it..

I assume your on it now, i'd try and clean it up if i was me, but i don't know just how bad it might be..

Ok..Well no im not on it im using another pc that does not have "limewire" ..thats how i think i got my background hacked ..

When i say background i mean wallpaper... i ..the pc is still in running shape i can do a few things on it and like spyware has disabled the taskmanager which ..was from limewire also ..

The make your own install disk is that in the control panel somewhere?? i think i have saw it before

Your walpaper changed?? what was it like, if it said something like "Spyware Infection" you have SmitFraud/SpyAxe.

You probaly just have some spyware etc, just clean it up rather than reinstalling your OS yet, post a HjT log in the windows spyware and viruses forums.

ok well i fixed the background part i got a program called hi jack this and it got rid of it ..hackers use it as like a test before they try to really hack...i called dell they are sendin me a new cd ...dell is awesome thanks for the help

Hey why did'nt you say you had a Dell..

You can make your own OS cd so easily:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/...

You can also Click Start->Program files->Dell->Create OS Recovery CD.

Thats not the HijackThis i use every day..hackers dont use it before they realy try to hack ?? :s

No, I was talking about the hacking background part sorry for the misunderstanding .. Umm yea ill try the OS thingy . But, i have a disk coming in the mail. thanks for all your help
