Well I've been looking into modding the playstation. I have a V7 following the Sticky. A friend told me I could hook up a hard drive and eliminate the loading time. Is there a starting place I can look at to learn more into modding?

Google for HD ADvance.
You will need a (ideally) a Maxtor HDD of at least 40Gig
A sony network adaptor
Software disc called HD advance. This can all be bought as a kit if you like or source it all seperately.

I have a quantum fireball ST hard drive laying around I was planning on using and I don't know how many Gigs are on it. By saying (ideally) means that it is the proven one to work the best. So I'll just go ahead and get that.. Thanks for the quick reply.

check there for hard drive compatibility
Get a network adapter
get HD Loader or HD Advanced
and look on the HDD and it should have a sticker that tells you the size.

some games will not work from the HDD and others you may need to change the mode on the loading program to get it working. But the one's that do you will have much faster load times.

I searched and found a list of HD loader compatibility.. Is there a list for HD Advance 3.0? Also I looked in the newbie faq and If my ps-2 doesn't read dvd-r disk then I shouldn't worry about this correct?

I'm a definate noob and my friend who knows this stuff told me to come here to afterdawn. Can somebody give me info on modding, mod-chips, and hardrives for my ps2?
