I own one rather old Sony's miniDV camera, it is DCR-PC7(E) (I think that last character varies depending on continent etc). As I know, this camera was manafactured in 1996 or 1997. I bought it second hand about a year ago.
I recorded with it a bit, with no problems (it has no mailfunctions of which I am aware of).

Recently I tried to hook it to PC. The camera has FireWire port, but it is not mentioned anywhere in its manual.
I have both Win2000 and Win98 installed, and I use some NEC's PCI FireWire card. The card is about a year old.

THE PROBLEM is that, when I set the camera to "Player" mode, Win98 completely freezes (including mouse and keyboard), and Win2000 becomes very jerky with constant CPU usage about 60-70%. Everything goes jerky, even mouse, Winamp playing MP3's, etc.

What the heck is the problem? I need this problem solved soon!

P.S.: I have also used another Sony's camera, Digital8 type (a newer model from y2002), and the connection worked flawlessly. I did the capturing and everything with no problems.
