I am finished modding my cube, and now I look at it and it seems like my gamecube would be better off if I left the heatsink off. The air circulation might be better for the Gamecube. I never saw the importance behind the idea of heatsinks so I wanted an opinion.

I'm talking about the metallic peice that goes over the middle of the mobo to release heat. I beleive heatsink is the right word. =X

Can I just leave it off? Or will my Gamecube melt eventually?

The heatsink plays an important role. It pulls away the heat from the cpu so that it won't run too hot. It wouldnt be a good idea to leave it off. Ya it may work without it on, but that chip will run a heck of alot hotter and it may decrease the life or performance.
