Hi Guys, I have an ISO file of 'Tomb Raider Legend' size: 4.67GB that is to big to fit on a 4.38 DVD (DVD-5).
I can open the ISO; What files do I need to delete to make it fit and play on a DVD-5?

I didn?t double post, the other post was started by user: singh and has a different title (kind of similar though I see how you made the mistake).

it was recommended that:
att1_w.xmv
att2_w.xmv
att3_w.xmv
death_w.xmv
default.xbe_orig

all be deleted, i only deleted default.xbe_orig and it worked.

Hi KC36330, thanks for the help. One question though, I always thought the default.xbe file was an important file and would stop the game working if deleted. What is the purpose of that file?

I made an ISO without the default.xbe and the ISO was still to big: 4.66GB

I tried making an ISO with the files - att1.xmv, att2.xmv, att3.xmv & death.xmv removed but it still is to big: 4.59GB and Nero Burning Rom will not burn it!

I kept the widescreen files (the files with _W.xmv) instead of the Full screen ones because they are smaller in size (apart from death.xmv) as shown below:

Widescreen / Normal TV
att1.xmv 17.7MB / 19.1MB
att2.xmv 17.8MB / 18.8MB
att3.xmv 17.MB / 20.7MB
death.xmv 23.7MB / 19.7MB

Can anyone help out there?

I have been doing some research and you need the default.xbe file for the game to run. The default.xbe is the main exe to start the game. Probably not a good idea to delete it!

all games ripped to HD are given a new default.xbe file and the ORIGINAL is called default.xbe_orig delete it and then make sure you CROSS-LINK IDENTICAL FILES you didn't cross-link is why your ISO is still to big. after you delete the default.xbe_orig and cross-link it'll be less then 4.3 gig

KC

I have looked in the folder on my pc where the games files were ripped to, and I can see the "default.xbe" file, but no sign of a "default.xbe_orig" file.

Do you mean this orig file is only created once you ripp to the XBOX hard drive? If so, are you then copying the ripped files from xbox to PC, rather than from the game disc in the xbox to PC like I am doing?

I tried deleting the default.xbe file anyway and made the ISO in quix with cross link turned on and sure the ISO fitted on the DVD but the xbox is saying disc "unknown" so I'm sure I have done it wrong.

How do I get the game file to a state where i have these 2 xbe files? thanks!

delete:

att1_w.xmv
att2_w.xmv
att3_w.xmv
death_w.xmv

and then cross-link on rebuild, should fit. myself i use DVD2XBOX and it always has the _orig file which can also be deleted if need be. you have to have a default.xbe when you compile the disk, this is the executable to start the game, without it your disk is useless.

kc

EDIT: on the cross-linking, it simply takes files that are identical (from the first and second layer of the image) and cross-link them so the program then will read them from the same place on the disk. if you do not cross link anything trying to access something on the second layer will give an error because there is no second layer after shrinking down to a DVD-5. the reason the original disk has identical files on both layers is to prevent the laser from having to constantly swap layers trying to find the data, doing so slows loading considerably because the laser has to refocus when it swaps layers.

thanks kc

does it have to be the 'w' files that you delete.
I understand these are widescreen video files.
My xbox is set to widescreen for my LCD, do you think
if i delete the 1,2,3 and death files that dont have the 'w' then it would still work?
suppose i should try it and see.

I'm trying y9ou rway now, if that works i;ll try with the other files and see what happens, thanks!

I have done it! I managed to keep every file as well ? Not 1 thing had to be deleted!

I am using Quix 1.01:
I open Quix 1.01, and then I go to ?Create ISO?. On the source option I click Local Folder and then I make its directory the folder where only my Tomb Raider Legend open ISO is. Then I tick the ?automatically cross-link identical files? box. Then I click ?Create ISO? button and wait while it does its thing (the progress report box comes up).
And after it is done you have a working Tomb Raider Legend ISO!

All you have to do now is set your DVD burner to over burn (4500MB) and that?s it!

as mentioned above, i deleted nothing but the backup XBE and didn't delete any of the other files, the cross-linking solved all the issues as well, but i didnt have to overburn.

I've just downloaded qwix and after attempting to automatically cross identical files it just keeps telling me that the ISO is too big to fit on a FAT drive. Any way to bypass this? I've had this problem before with other ISO's and it's actually pretty annoying. Thanks for any help that can be given.

You can not make an ISO biger then 4GB whit the FAT drive that you have.you need a NTFS drive to make it biger then 4GB.

Hi guys,

I am having a similar problem; I have burnt the game without deleting any files ? my problem is sometimes the game loads no problem but starts to freeze up during game play other times it loads really slowly and then just freezes up.

This is busting my head ??. I have never had this problem before, I?ve tried burning it at different speeds, cleaned up writer, tried turning off IGR (Evolution X), set the systems clock and cleaned the Cache but it?s just not happening ??. Please can someone advise.

Have you tried using Avalaunch instead? Its been my experience that games play better under Avalaunch as oppose to the Evox dash.

Proud owner of an original release day V1.0 Xbox w/ Xenium ICE SP, Xenium 2.3.1 OS, w/ Avalaunch, Evox, and XBMC dashboards.
