O.k. before I have someone post "thread close please do a search there are plenty of guides out there." Please read. I have found only 2 threads that were closed before others could post. I was unable to locate any guides for GoW ISO to HDD. There are 10,000,000 about backup/shrinking/Patching tool and such for GoW.

I have searched for a good week for a cut and dry guide for Booting a DVD9 God of War.ISO from a HDD using HDL 0.7c AND "Confirmation that this has been successfully done by more then 1 person." I have the MC Exploit where I can boot any elf I wish aka HDL 0.7c as I have read currently it is the **best Hard Drive loader elf ATM please correct me if I am wrong**. I used hdl_dumb 0.8.3 to load the GoWar 7.93.iso (ISO created with DVD Decrypter and stored on a NTFS drive) to my 160 G Seagate drive using the Network Adaptor. Started up HDL 0.7C and hit select to access the options checked the option "Kill HDL when game starts".

God of War boots up as normal however, if I load a save that is on the Dual layer part of the game then it freezes at "Loading..." Anyone have a solution or a link to a guide?

[Edit] Hmm Do I need to use this on my image? Toxic Dual Layer Image Patcher v1.0. Guess I will try it can't hurt anything. Hope I have the space on my PC. lol.

[Edit #2] Well, the Toxic Dual Layer Image Patcher v1.0 ran successfully on the ISO however when I tried to boot the image to a Layer 2 save it froze once again on "Loading..."

the dual layer patcher is ONLY for burring to dual layer disks when your chip doesn't support OTP burnt games. I've used HD Loader 0.7c to play GOW and it worked fine, sounds like an error getting your image to the HD, try using WinHIIP instead.

Thanks KC for the post and from what I have found it does seem that you are totally correct about it depends on what you upload the Iso/Image with. I found this http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/showthread.php?t=35652&highlight=... .

KC? have you ever used any client and the net adaptor to load an image such as God of War with any luck?

But once again it takes days to read through all the useless stuff people post. I would love to try WinHIIP. But I do not wish to remove my Hard Drive from my PS2 just load a signle image. Let me re phase that, I don't want to get my PC out from under my desk and then disconnect 1 of my 2 Hard drives to load an image call me lazy. But there should be a way to successfully load an iso/image through the Net adapter. I guess if I get tired enough I will resort to that until then I will keep trying.

I've used HD Advance 3.0 to FTP but it's slooooooooooooowwww and you have to use their software (hd dump i believe it's called) so I'd never use it for anything of decent size. you could always get you a USB to IDE cable and then just plug the drive into a USB port on your PC, it's not as fast as the direct IDE connection but it's reasonable.

Thanks again KC excellent idea. However, I will have to see how much a IDE to USB cable is. Surprisingly I have never heard of such a cable and I work with cables a lot. But again thanks a lot I will check it out.

I am not concerned with speed. 1.5 MBs or 2.0MBs per sec is fine with me. Start it and watch TV or baby sit the little one. So WinHIIP works well for HDL 0.7c so I ahve read and been told by knowledgeable people such as KC and Advanced HD 3.0 works well with hdl_dumb? Suchs I have yet to see Advanced HD 3.0 as an ELF. Is this my whole issue some loaders do not like specific uploading programs? I guess this would make sense however if these loaders did not work well with the format that loader xxxx installs the image/iso as they shouldn't read the image/iso in the first place but that is just my useless opinion.

"I used hdl_dumb 0.8.3 to load the GoWar 7.93.iso BUT used HDL 0.7c to try and load GoW"

the USB to IDE cables have been out for many years i guess you've just been out of that loop :) some can be bought with the 12v supply for the HD some don't have it and you'll need to get that as well so keep that in mind.

also don't confuse HD Dump with HD Dumb, they are two different programs and Dumb is a derivative of the Dump. I've also never seen a HD Advance 3.0 in elf version but i never use anything but Toxic OS as a HD Loader program anymore so i haven't been looking for it and i only own the 3.0 disks as an example for customers looking for ways to avoid installing a chip.

on a side note, the best HD Loader program I've used in .elf format is one I've patched myself. i found it to be 'most' compatible as have allot of my customers. I'd offer a copy of it to you if you don't mind it being personalized.

That FFX2HDLOADER.ELF is the Bomb thanks. That Final Fantasy Splash screen owns. Yep it boots DVD 9 ISO of GOW perfectly along with DVD-5 Shrunk GoW ISO. A note for others. TOXIC48P.elf will boot the DVD-5 GoW ISO but not the DVD-9 ISO for GoW. Also the ISO's were uploaded to PS2 using LordBoGaMi' HDL_Dump 2.1 and the network adaptor. This WAS a VERY slow process but oh well. Maybe IDE to IDE next time around.

"KC owns" basically sums it up.
