I have the slim ps2 and im having i problem playin dvd's. it is modded but i dont need it for playing store bought copies or burned dvd's. my problem is that when i place the dvd and turn the console on, the dvd barely moves and the ps2 freezes b4 the first screen comes up and i have to unplug it and plug it back up for it to work. I dont know if its because its gettin old or laser problems or what. It just randomly does it. can anybody help me w/ this problem?

have you tried cleaning the laser by chance??

ive cleaned it but not really very good. there isnt any kind of visible dust or anything on it
