I've just recently modded my cube and the games seem to start alright. Almost seemlessly. But whenever I get to certain points in the game, the disk tends to give me an error. People tell me its my POT settings on my dvd-reader, so for the past two or three days I've been sitting in my air-tight room devoid of food or girlfriend, and have been fiddleing with the same damn POT knob and I still cant seem to get it to work right.

Do all games seem to work perfectly for everyone? I've run my POT down to 105, and I am afraid to go down anymore than that. Everyone says that 120 should be just enough, but Pikmin and MarioKart DoubleDash, and also Mario Party 6 will not work.

It cant be the disks that I am using, because I'm using TYG01, (Taiyo Yuden) And it cant be my burner or my burning program, because I'm using a NEC and ImgBurn. I'm running out of reasons why this isnt working.

The Laser just isnt dead! Sometimes I can play the game, sometimes I cant. Is there a problem with the POT being too low? because I was understanding that it would always read better at a lower pot, but the life of the laser would diminish. Will POT 160 sometimes read better than POT 120?

Thank you for the help in advance. I will pray for a quick reply.

best settings would be 180-220. i turned mine down from 220 to 200.

You may need to use alcohol on the lens. I had to use some to stop the disc errors(yes i play mario party 7 and mario kart double dash too)

200ohms
Alcohol

No more disc errors.

i dont know if your laser is wearing out. anyway i use these for the mini dvds:

Verbatim mini DVD-R 1-4x
Nero 6.6

You gotta be careful with Verbatims, not all of them are good because they have too many manufacturers and they use different dyes, and some of the dyes arent good. I forget what manufacturer's dye is the best though.

I dont know what it is, but this is really depressing that I cant get this to work.

Verbatim DVD media all have MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical) now, so no need to worry about the dye used.
