Boot ntsc game from pal console?

I got a pal ps2 machine and i want to boot final fantasy 12 ntsc-jap from hdloader.Would it be nesecary to patch it first before i can load it?OR i can i use hdloader with any region iso images?

I tried booting it with no ntsc2pal conversion and with all combination of modes,and i get a bsod no matter what.

I am not really sure but I have read a few thread and people were saying hdloader doesn't work for FFXII everyone seems to use swap magic 3.6 which I am yet to get so I can play my NTSC import of FFXII when it is out
