Problem with avi-mux gui within avi2dvd

Hey all,

I keep trying to join two avi files in avi-mux gui but I keep getting an error "Could not read from audio source 1, even though the end of the stream has not been reached yet. This may be the result of bad headers." This has happened with two different pairs of avis. Could it have something to do with 6 channel acc? I downloaded the most recent version of avi-mux gui (1.17.5) Is there a better freeware joiner out there? Thanks.
