Does anyone have any idea on how to cut down the whole length of time it takes just to rip one DVD. I am willing to buy programs just so it cuts down the monotonouis process.

Here is what i use:

Decrypter (25mins)
DVD2One (60mins+)
Nero (45mins)

PC Spec
2.4 p4, 80gb 7200hd, granite duel ddr mb, 512mb

Admittadly i have stuff downloading all the time.

DVD2One takes so much time because I'm using decrypter and nero because i have to be pro-active because of the time element i have 17 DVD's i want to back up for when i go away.

Does anyone use any other system/program which cuts length of time it takes?

Does anyone know if there is a program that does all 3 that would be ace?

Is there a program which decrypts and compresses ie dvd2one and decrpter as a single entirty?

YO

Decrypting takes that long, with every ripper partly because of decryption and partly because of new hardware specs. DVD2ONE can be much quicker, but *only* when it is being used on its own, as the coding is very intensive. Nero takes what it takes because of the media and frankly I wouldn't recommend more than 2x anyway, which is what you are doing. (I do 1x!)

There is a piece of software which rips and compresses in one, it is called DVD Shrink, it is available from us and is free :-)

Good luck, Paul.

It really depends, you must try it with your settings, as it depends on length of DVD, features cut, compression etc etc.

It is fairly easy to use, I don't think we have aguide yet in guides section (you can check :)) but there are a few threads on this subject in DVD Ripping forums.

Regards, Paul.

I use DVD Decrypter, IFO Edit and Pinnacle Instant Copy.

Pinnacle Instant Copy will fit an entire DVD9 into a DVD5. But with IFO Edit its best to keep the entire movie within 5 Gigs because IC will compress it. This is were one's patience must kick in. But the advantage is that IC will format the DVD-R so any DVD player in the market will recognize it with no problem.

In the past I had to use IFO Edit to split the movie into 2 disc if it exceeded 4.4 Gigs. Then again most DVD players wouldn't even recognize my copied movies until IC came along.

your hard drive must be in good shape if you can do multi tasking as well as using dvd2one.I would never try such a thing myself,i have 120gb western digital 8mb cache and an 80gb 7200rpm.generally dvd2one takes 10 to 15 mins for me whatever dvd film i do.and prassi is less than 30 mins for 2 speed discs.I used to do films with tmpgenc and maestro, and am happy doing a whole film in an hour with the current programmes available, compared to taking 6hrs to 18 hours for 1 film [high quality settings] with tmpgenc and maestro with 2ghz cpu a few months ago.
