Hi.
New member here.
Does anyone have any knowledge of the DMR-ES15?
I just bought one from BB.
I can't even find it on Panasonic's website.
Thanks,
Joe

I wonder if I should return it for the Lite-On LVW-1107HC1?

Never mind.
I found it at Panasonic UK and Cnet UK.
I guess it's new to the states.

I think this what you are after

http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/diga/europe/es15/index.html

One HUGE downside (for me anyway) Its does not support RGB in. So if you have a RGB setup ie SKY+ and want to record the REB signal it will record but not in RGB :(

Hope that helps

Hi,

Received a new panasonic DMRES15 yesterday and am thoroughly disappointed and am trying to return today (unfortunately I made the mistake of buying from savastore.com who are useless when it comes to returning goods - service is not available messages all the time!). Basically, the problems I found are as follows:-

1. It will not play ANY DVD-RW or DVD+RW disk that has been created on a PC (I use NEROVISION Express). It just states the disks are not formatted correctly. However, the disks in question play perfectly on every other player I have tried them on. Is this a known fault with panasonic dvd recorders as the recorder is practically useless if it cannot play DVD+RW or DVD-RW disks unless they are formatted on this panasonic recorder. When I copy the DVD-RW / DVD+RW content to a DVD-R / DVD+R disk then the recorder plays them but this would be a very expensive method of playing my own self authored DVD?s. I think the DVD Management system on the recorder only allows RW disks if they have been formatted on the actual recorder which is just plain daft).

2. The One Touch record facility (30,60,90 etc minute recordings) does not work at all. Once I set a recording going and subsequently press the REC button to initiate timed duration recordings, nothing happens and nothing is displayed on the screen. I have tried on all available disk formats including DVD-RAM.
3. Time slip function and manual skip (30 seconds) will only work on a DVD-RAM disk or a finalised DVD+R disk but not DVD-R / DVD-RW / DVD+RW disks despite the manual clearly stating they should work. These functions do not even work on pre-recorded DVDs which is clearly unacceptable.

4. DivX files (AVI) put on any format of disk are unplayable as the recorder states the disks are unformatted (same problem as 1 above basically). This was one of the reasons for purchasing the recorder in the first place.

I would steer clear of this player! If anyone else has got the above to work with their player then I'd be interested to know how. Thanks.

UK Owners only:-

Has anyone ever managed to record a PC DVD (Video_ts) on to a DVD+RW or DVD-RW disk and got the DMR-ES15 to recognise & play the disk as I never have. It plays the same contents put on a DVD-R disk but will cost me a fortune in the long run?

Also, has anyone got the commercial skip button to work on pre-recorded disks?

Thanks for any help.

because the UK version is different to the European version (DIVX not supported for example).

Interesting.
I'm in the US. I don't think divx is supported on mine either.

i bought one at walmart a few days ago.

my time slip and one touch record work fine.

I do not have any pc made rw's or DivX to test.

maybe you got one that was returned as defective.

i always buy from someone local so i can quickly return it.

walmart gives you 90 days.

will let you know if i have any other problems, but compared to the ilo dvdr05 i had, i love this one.

yes, the time slip works on dvdrw and DVDR, i can jump in increments of 1 minute or 10 minutes, it jumps very quickly to the desired spot.
the commerical skip works very well, jumps 1 minute in like 1 second.

i will test the record on different disks this weekend

Thanks for the info. Were they + or - DVDRW/DVDR disks? Are you in the UK?
