Probably

IMO books are always better than their movie counter-parts, and reading the book first can often help one understand the movie better, as some parts are always left out.

The one movie [series] that lives up to the books is The lord of the rings trilogy, the Extended Edition
I'm a huge fan :D

Seen a lot of movies recently

--Fight Club [old i know :P]
--American Pie 1-5
--Knocked Up
--American Psycho
and others I can't recall ATM

I have to disagree with you about LOTR. I am a huge fan of the books and the movies, and have the extended movies, but was very disappointed that they didn't include the Battle of the Shire in the extended version of the Return of the King.

Anyone I know who read the books agrees with me.

Other than that, the movies were excellent.

That was also on my list ;)

But looking at the extended edition trilogy, you must say they did a pretty decent job

Of course they still can't beat the book and my imagination :D

Count me in as an LOTR fan. Love 'em and one of the few movies that I've watched several times. I'd buy them also in Blu-Ray - you're right Ray92 I think they'd be awesome in that format.

@rtm27
Yeah Gran Torino was good - I agree w/ you on the ending too.

@locoeng
WTF does that mean?

I was watching The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.....I still can't understand what the movie is about. I had about 20 minutes left when I had to go.

I was able to view a movie coming out in march called The Accidental Husband. I liked it. It was a good flick. Kinda a mixture of a chick flick with some guy elements tossed in.

@LOCOENG
A little too much to drink today :)

@rtm27
I liked the Curious Case of BB - long but decent - similar in a way to Forrest Gump.

Now Accidental Husband (that one has been floating out there awhile :)- predictable I thought. Uma Thurman playing a ditz - didn't really like. She's a much better actress than that.
Just my opinions.

Hey I saw Bedtime Stories over the holidays and it was pretty good actually. Funny to see Adam Sandler in a more "kiddie friendly" role but yeah it had some good laughs in it.

Thanks Ray, i haven't seen Disturbia yet! lol!

I see Colin Farrell won a golden globe for In Bruges. Great film, has everyone seen it?

Anyone any idea when Twilight will be out on dvd or as a screener, my daughter can't wait to get it.

Yeah, In Bruges was pretty good. I liked it quite a bit.

Watched Gran Torino last night, which was a pretty good flick. Definately worth seeing.

I loved In Bruges too - that movie was a trip.

Haven't seen a screener floating around on Twilight - though some claim to be.

What did you think on then ending 7thsinger on Gran Torino?

Actually, i had already figured the ending out. The dog tipped me off. :)

As far as a screener for Twilight goes, i'll be looking for one later as the wife must have it. :D She's persistent. Hehe.

Has anybody watched Slumdog Millionaire or Defiance yet? Are they worth watching?

I didn't get tipped off til the very end.

I haven't seen Slumdog- on dvd here in the States 2/24 so I'll wait but I have seen Defiance.
If you like World War II movies this is a good one - true story and both Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber are excellent.

Slumdog is very good. I liked the way the story played out, how all he wanted was the girl....who he had been in love with since he was little. The big bollywood dance number was at the very end of this one, after the movie concluded.

I saw The Wrestler a couple weeks ago. Mickey Rourke really surprised me in this movie. He played a professional wrestler who had all the fame, and now 20 years later, he is working a low wage job, still wrestling on the weekends. Another side of professional wrestling, no glitz, no glamour, no family.

My son will like Defiance so, he loves World War II movies. Enemy at the Gate is his favourite movie ever.

Might watch Slumdog, it's getting pretty good reviews.

Oh yeah I forgot about that one! I was kinda shocked at how cut he was in the Wrestler but then again in Sin City (with some Hollywood help) he was cut then too.
