You'd be better off to just pay the cable company for the next tier of service, because no, you can't plug in yours and your buddy's modems on the same cable line.

If you're planning on running cable, you'd be better off to jump wireless and connect to 2-10 wireless connections simultaneously and *borrow* all their bandwidth, assuming you're in a neighborhood or city area w/ several wireless connections available.

But yes, you CAN shotgun connections, that's what it was called on old dialup, shotgunning...

All you need is a *nix idiot box with 3 LAN cards to act as your router, and some basic *nix software, and away you go.

Well, before I considered paying for 2 cable connections...that's going to be what, $100 a month, at least...because it has to be 2 entirely separate cable lines coming into your home...so...yea, I'd call them up and ask about premium bandwidth packages.

Usually for another $10-$50, you can greatly increase your downstream bandwidth.

Like, with adelphia you get something like 3mbits down, 256k up base. You can go up two additional levels, capping at something like 6.5mbits guaranteed connection.

And for setting up 2 access points, you do it just like one...and then connect to both. I've never personally done this, but I've seen software to do it. Google it!
