I am new to psp world and I have couple questions. I have searched lot of forums but I have couple more questions and need some suggestions?. To make it easier I numbered my questions and statements?
1. I am only interested in ISO, so that only gives me two options 1.5 or 2.0, nothing else?
2. is it impossible to find in store 1.5 or 2.0 version? Is it possible to buy one in store?
3. is there any other way to tell which version of firmware is on psp with out opening package?
4. if spiderman movie or that hockey game is include with psp in original package, is that guarantee that it is 1.5 version?
6. I am looking to purchase one over ebay, is there any other suggestions/options
7. when I buy one should I watch for something? Origin? Dead pixels? Etc?
8. how long is battery life while you are playing games?
9. any other suggestion or advise to give me prior to purchase? I am only interested in iso?
Thanks,

1. I am only interested in ISO, so that only gives me two options 1.5 or 2.0, nothing else?

Bassically, your 2 options are 1.0, 1.5, 1.51, 1.52, 2.00, If you have 1.52/1.51, upgrade to 2.00 and downgrade.

2. is it impossible to find in store 1.5 or 2.0 version? Is it possible to buy one in store?

It's 90% impossible to find a 1.50 original in a stor but the a unlikely chance you can get a 2.00.

3. is there any other way to tell which version of firmware is on psp with out opening package?

Yes, Luckily, there is 2 way's of doing that, you ask them to check the PSP version (they have to open the box), but theres a very slim chance that there going to do that so I suggest you try this way (Credit to PSPHacks):

Using this picture, when you ask the man/lady for a PSP, check the box and look for this sticker, You can determine the firmware version by checking for a letter code above the UPC on the bottom of the box.

A-1.50
B-1.51
C-1.52
D-2.00 Unconfirmed
E-1.52 (Now Confirmed it is 1.52)
F-2.00
G-2.01

Using the above list, photograph, and a kindergarten skillset, we can determine that my PSP was version B, meaning it shipped with version 1.51; yet now I control firmware versions as a god would, manipulating them hither and thither! Muahaha!

4. if spiderman movie or that hockey game is include with psp in original package, is that guarantee that it is 1.5 version?

Not garenteed but likely if its with the Spiderman film, but use the info above to double check.

6. I am looking to purchase one over ebay, is there any other suggestions/options

Lately, I have found these good PSP deals,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-AND-BOXED-SONY-PSP-VERSION-2-00_W...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-PSP-ver-2-00-Game-512mb-memory-card-Ca...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SONY-PSP-32mb-Card-software-2-00-NOT-Im...

7. when I buy one should I watch for something? Origin? Dead pixels? Etc?

When you buy, check for dead pixels which are basically very small squares that are black all the time or white all the time. Make sure it is working fully obviously and check if there are any scratches or proof that it is not new.

8. how long is battery life while you are playing games?

Around 2 - 3 hours

9. any other suggestion or advise to give me prior to purchase? I am only interested in iso?

You need 1.5 to get your ISO's running

Thanks,

No problem

i actually know of 5 PSP's left atleast here in town that are 1.5s (still sitting in the stockroom at the store) and they are the spiderman 2 pack. but like he was saying you'll need to downgrade to a 1.5 to play iso's, with that you might as well buy a 2GB MSPD or a 1GB atleast (i'm going to get a 2GB cuz the 1GB i have to keep moving iso's around). depending on what area you live in, it's still possible to find 1.5's or maybe a 2.0 but i know that i could get another 1.5 no problem. (bought 2 from the store that still has them) one of which is upgraded to a 2.0 for now and the other is strictly for iso) also if there is no letter on the box where described above, it should be a 1.5

where are you from TheOne?

make sure you have a usb cable for it for transfering the iso's (i like the one i got w/ the psp power adapter built in so it charges while it's transferring)

Nope, the wonderful world of 1.50 can support GTA ISO on the memory stick no need to upgrade

Also I though that I red somewhere that you can run ISO on 2.0?
Thats not true, you can only play some old emulators using the GTA Exploit which is difficult

I have emailed someone on ebay about version number on the box, and this is what he replayed? help? :)

Well most shops in England now have PSP's with H, I have seen someone buy it and it was 2.50. Also you can tell cause G is 2.01, so obviously H, being the higher numeral than G, it the firmwire would be higher.

Also, I bought a White PSP off ebay and it came and had a F which on the guide it said it should be a 2.00, and guess what? It WAS! I am now a Proud owner of 1.5, a rare white 1.5

Good Luck on your Buy,

-3dluis

battery life
3-4 hours continous if you are playing games
5-6 hours if you are playing music
2-3 hours for movies

and a 2.0 cannot play isos as 3d stated, but has the potential to be a 1.5 which can play isos.
2.0 is just as good as a 1.5 cause its downgradable, and downgrading is quite easy.

You can't recognis the version just from that. I'm afraid you will have to wait and see if you got what you looked for.
