Trouble playing some DVDs on DVDRW

Hi,

I have a DVDROM drive and a DVDRW drive and some of my DVDs only play in the DVDROM and not the DVDRW and even the DVD decrypter analysis fails on that drive.

On thing I've noticed is that all of them have a "copy protected DVD" logo on their back. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the DVD not playing on that drive.

There is nothing wrong with my DVDRW, its a NEC 3540, purchased less than a year ago. I did upgrade the firmware a couple of months ago. They only have one upgrade on thier website.

I am not sure why this is happening. Can anyone shed some light on this.

One wierd thing I noticed though was if I load the DVD in the RW, it freezes up the whole machine as if its trying to read a heavily scratched DVD and my antivirus (McAfee) is disable. I am not sure why this happens but I am pretty sure its related.
