The Slimline PS2 SCPH-750002 works fine. Then the Mars Action 752 modchip is put in. After modchip installation, original games play fine in full color. But Backup games plays, but not in full color, just Black and White instead. What is the problem??? Why is any backup games I put in play in black & white instead of full color???
You are trying to play games with a different video system than your PS2... e.g. if your PS2 is NTSC (e.g. US) and the games you are trying to play are PAL (e.g. UK), and your TV doesn't support PAL, then you'll get B/W pictures. Try a different TV?
or find out if the chip you have possibly has the ability to switch regions. Then you can try that as well.
But if it is your TV that is the source of the problem then buying a converter, or converting the game with a program is your only hope.
Thanks, the PAL TV not supporting NTSC was the problem. But it's was quite deceiving as the same games were test with many other earlier modchipped PS2 without problems. Because the MODBO 1.2 chip would turn the PS2 into region free. But this time it deceived me because this new Slimline PS2 version 14 was fitted with a MARS Action 752 chip. This chip was meant to turn this PS2 region free as well.
Quite misleading.
AFIAK, "Region Free" has nothing to do with whether a game is PAL or NTSC, rather it enables the PS2 to play DVD movies from other regions. When I try to play a PAL game on my NTSC TV, the screen rolls and the game is totally unplayable. Some PAL games have a 50/60 Hz selector which is pretty cool. I wish more PAL games had that feature as there are many more PAL games posted on Usenet than there are NTSC. And the PAL to NTSC conversion patches generally leave a lot to be desired.

what boot method do you use for the PAL games?
Most good chips and Swap Magic 3.0 and above can all play PAL games if you set them up right, that is as long as your TV can play them.
