I have just purchased a samsung dv camcorder (not dvd or card dv tape)
the model is vpd351.

There is no software with this but i can connect via firewire when it has been connected it is found but all windows and nero want to do is capture video not take it off the tape.

When i explore the camcorder it does not find any video only pictures, i think i know the answer im going to get but i thought id ask first

I have ofund a prog by ulead called video studio 9
this claims to be able to take of dvtapes
anyone know

You can use many programs to capture the video using Firewire. This includes Windows MovieMaker. There are alos a couple of nice freeware programs for that (see http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/downloads/freedownloads.php)
