- You can enable or disable the feature of UMD disk opening on startup

- Sony PSP Camera Feature

The update will be out for PSP owners in the middle of November.



Notice
This update is for customers who own PSP? (PlayStation®Portable) system model number PSP-1001 sold in North America. DO NOT update your PSP? system through this Web site if you own a different model of the PSP? system. There is no guarantee of proper operation with other models of the PSP? system.

Also available in French or Spanish.

An update to PSP? system features will be available on November 13, 2005.
If you update your PSP? system, the system software will be version 3.00.
Internet Browser User License Agreement
Features updated in system software version 3.00 include the following:


[LocationFree? Player] has been added as a feature under [Network].
[Auto-Select] and [Unicode (UTF-8)] have been added as options to [Encoding] under [View] in the [Internet Browser] menu bar.
Settings for [Text Size] and [Display Mode] in [Internet Browser] can now be saved.
[Internet Browser] added
The input history of online forms accessed through [Internet Browser] can now be saved.
Macromedia Flash support for the internet browser, so more sites, and games are playable
Java Support

Copyright-protected video can now be played under [Video].
(This applies to video saved on Memory Stick Duo? media).
For details, contact the video content provider.
Note that fees may be charged to obtain or use copyright-protected video.
Downloadable copyright-protected video may not be available in all countries
and regions.
4:3 Screen Mode has been added (for video saved on Memory Stick Duo? media).
Go To feature has been added (for UMDVIDEO and UMDMUSIC).
A-B Repeat feature has been added (for UMDVIDEO, UMDMUSIC and video saved on Memory Stick Duo media).
Audio options have been added (for video saved on Memory Stick Duo media).
MP4 (AVC) has been added as a playable file format (for video saved on Memory Stick Duo media).

If your PSP? system software version is 3.00 (or later), you do not need to perform this update. To check the version of your system software, select "System Settings" under from the home menu, and then select "System Information".




Do not use data other than official update data acquired through our company's update server.




Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the system software.




This system software update includes all features contained in previous versions.




Depending on the system software version, screen images shown here may be different from the actual product.


You can update your system software by any of the following methods:

Network Update

Use the PSP? system's Network Update feature to perform the update. Click the link above for update instructions. Refer also to the PSP? system instruction manual.

Update using a PC

Download the update data to a PC, and then save on Memory Stick Duo? media. Start the saved update data on your PSP? system to perform the update. Click the link above for update instructions.

Update using a UMD?

*As of October 13, 2005, this method is only available for updates up to version 1.52.

I have read stuff saying the PSP2 is out for November(?!?!?!) with a camera, slimmer design and 4GB internal memory. But as you say Raven, none of it sounds very official at all. 90% of future PSP news just seems to be lame internet rumours and BS.

like i said before, when ever you hear that the 4gb officially has a release date, you kno that 3.0 fw is either right behind it or going to be realeased along with it or not too long after, until then don't believe this little sites posting their bullshit.
and if you will probably have to wait til psp2 for a dedicated handheld.
psp wasn't made to really be a great handheld system.
psp was made to keep ppls attention until ps3 came out since it was facing pretty bad delays.
