I'd put it down to a bad case of the media bug!

What brand media are you using? ie Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden

What speed is your media rated at? ie 4x, 8x, 16x

What format media are you using? ie -R, +R, -RW, +RW

What burner are you using?

Also have you updated your drivers firmware lately?

I read somewhere that the Slim PS2's laser needs a fix if you wish to play backups. I mean you could play backups for a while but sooner or later it will fuck up. Yeah I started out playing backups with the PS2 slim up untill I read that thread. Now I use my PS2 v5/6 Fatty. I just got a HDD for my Fatty PS2 so i no longer have to worry about laser issues. Well I hope this helps a bit. Oh yeah i forgot to mention: When I used to play my backups with my PS2 Slim, it would make a lot of noise. But the instant I loaded up a back up with my Fatty, before the HDD, all I could hear were the sounds of Kratos's Blades of Chaos thrashing Satyrs. LoL. Well Lates.

Yeah by buying the laser fix for the PS2 Slim. I think you can google Team Modders and find their website and I believe they sell it and install it for a small amount. Hope this helps, Peace.

Yeh you will probably need a laser fix but dont go ignoring the fact that to also prolong the life of your laser and for best compatability you'll need to use decent media.

Yup, yup, yup. Get the best media you can afford and it will help in the process of keeping your laser in working order. You can get official Taiyo Yuden's from Supermediastore.com for a good price.

Here's a link: http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-silver-thermal-8x-dvd-...

Hope this helps, Peace.
