Ok, so this may sound retarded, or even stupid right now, but the question I am going to ask is of great importance to me right now.
1. Are bb guns illegal in US, specifically New York.
2. If so is it legal for a 14 y/o to own one?
3. If you can prove that a 14 y/o has over $2,000.00 is apparrell and no income, can you associate missing money to this 14 y/o and press charges?

i searched through yahoo news and local and found only ppl pushing for certain things to be legislated, but found nothing concrete. so perhaps someone could help me.

thanks again.

LOL

So, I'm guessing that you're 14 and you'd like a BB gun, eh?

Yes, it's legal for you to own one, as long as you don't shoot it in a spot with other people not involved in shooting (i.e. in your backyard where neighbors can hear or see it), and obviously not in public. You would have to legally shoot it out in the country or a field or something that you cave access to without trespassing.

NEW YORK (Court TV) -- Alan Newsome never thought his BB gun would kill anyone. When he brandished it in the hallway of his Harlem apartment building, it was just something to help scare some cash out of a burger joint deliveryman. But the deliveryman turned out to be a cop, and when Newsome pulled the fake gun, the cop's partner shot the 17-year-old three times in the chest, killing him.

You need evidence to support 'where' the money was 'stolen'.
Also most BB guns are easy to spot now-adays with A standard
red marked barrel. (In the US anyway)

If said gun was the weapon of intent it should have been
obvious from the start due to the colored barrel/sights.

In October 1992, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued regulations governing the "Marking of Toy Look-Alike and Imitation Firearms." Under the new specifications, toy guns were required to bear a solid, "blaze-orange" plug at the tip of their barrel, or be colored entirely white, bright red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink or purple.
