Ok, first off I have learned a great deal from those who have taken the time to write the guides at the top of this thread. Just bought a PSP today. Until yesterday I was happily oblivious to the joys of owning a V1.5. I have however now purchased a nice shiny new 1.5 console.

I have looked through lots of posts to find the answers to these questions but can't find em......

If I upgrade my 1.5 firmware to 2.0, I take it I can degrade it again to 1.5 as many times as I like. Will upgrading degrading multiple times adversely effect my PSP.

Given that if I ever upgrade to 2.1 or higher I can never go back, obviously I don't want to do this. How many games do I lose the ability to play. I am a big Jak & Daxter fan and will be was planning on buying Daxter. Would I be able to run this on 1.5 or 2.0 ?

I expect these questions have been answered many times but be gentle with a poor old noob...

ok time for me to explain. downgradidng up and down wont affect u. and since u have 1,5 rite u can download daxter and play it . but u hahve to wait till peopele encode it and etc. and if u go past 2.1 u cant donwgrade at least not yet and have to buy gta for hombrews. and it ok to feel like a noob in this big psp world. o yea and u should buy a 1gb if your going the route of downloading games its free to download and 1gb it is lik 50 bucks or so

If ur already on V 1.5 i dont see the point of upgrading to V2.0.
Up an down grading wont ave an affect if u do it right and follow the guides properly.
There is an app that lets u run higher firmware UMD,s on lower firmware, but if ur on 1.5 u might not ave need to buy the game if u know what i mean...

Ok, thanks guys, I get the idea now. I think its just a case of I read so many threads I was starting to confuse myself. There seems to be lots of different methods of achieving the same thing.

I got a 1GB card with the console so hopefully that will be enough to get me started.
