I have been using DVD Shrink for awhile and have enjoyed the results, although in 2005, the new DVD's have copyright protection that Shrink won't read. Is there anyway to get around the copyright protection?

Personally, I rip everything first. It's just faster IMO to work with files on your HD than on a slow DVD. There are a multitude of ways to get this done, and the search feature will point you at literally hundreds of threads here dealing with just that.

anydvd will remove the latest copy protection you can run it in the background while using shrink. it is not a free program but is well worth the $ (it is also constantley updated). you can get a 21 day trial from slysoft.com

You can also use DVD Decrypter to copy the DVD movie to your Hard drive while removing the copy protection. Then from your HD, use DVD Shrink business as usual. AnyDVD is easier and better becuase you can just run it on the background and then just use DVD Shrink as usual without having to spend the time to copy the whole thing to your HD before shrinking it. The only thing is that it's not free. AnyDVD alone is $39 from Slysoft or I know some people who brought licenses through eBay for cheaper. Once you get the license, you get free upgrades for life and they do upgrade their version fairly often to keep ahead of the newest protection.

If it helps you..I downloaded and installed DVDFAB Decrupter ver 2.9.7.6 today and ripped a movie to a designated folder on my hard disk without problems.
