Fairly recently (last month for two) I have been getting an increasing number of cyclic redundency errors from DVDShrink. Sometimes I could get Fabdecryptor to produce vob files etc on the hardrive and use DVDshrink from there. But lately even Fab fails. In case it was my burner, I tried an older commercial dvd, no problems at all. I've also tried cleaning the disks. I have the feeling the more recent commercial products have upped the ante. Anyone else noticing a new trend?
It's been going on for a few months now. Make sure you are using the latest version of FabDecrypter. What movies specifically are causing the problems? Have you seen any threads on them here at AD?
flthemis,
Welcome to the forum. I have had no problems using DVDFAB Decrypter to rip the DVD to HD. That said I then use VobBlanker to correct the structural errors that the studios throw in and use DVD-RB to compress w/ Imgburn to burn.
Updating Fabdecrypter solved the problem. Thanks, folks. I wonder why dvdshrink hasn't kept up however. The movie involved was Water - as it turned out, the PC dvd drive would not read the first disk (in Hindi) at all; and was slow in accessing the English translation. PS this is an excellent film for reflecting on the long-term consequences of a bad idea.
