i have ripped the entire cd in file mode using smartripper.

When you play the original dvd through windvd the "forced" subtitles come up when the koreans are talking or any other information (liek a new location in the movie)

But when I play either the ripped vobs or the dvd2one version through windvd i dont any subtitles. And the subtitle menu option is greyed out in winddvd.,... yet its there when you play the original dvd.

Also, one thing regarding chapters.

In the original there are 36 chapters. but when i rip the film there are only 7 (1 per vob). If i was to write the vobs to dvd, would the 36 chapters be intact or would i just have 7??

Hope you can help

Cheers

Well i've sort of sorted the problems out.... i wrote the dvd2one'd version of the vobs to dvd and it works spot on in my set-top box. subtitles ok, chapters all there.

So the problem appears to be when playing the vobs direct from my hard drive in win dvd.

Anyone got a solution to that problem?
How do you play a complete set of ripped vobs on your PC? i suppose how do you fool windvd to think te vobs are on a dvd, not hard disk.

Anyone?

Hello, I have the same problem mate :-(, thus have a couple of questions for you!

1. I ripped the backup using Smartripper, select all files including subtitles in the files menu, (enable stream processing) is this correct?

2. Using DVD2ONE did you select the subtile (english) in the subtitles box?

The backup works fine on my set-top box, just the subtitles dont come up when the koreans are talking at the beginning :-(

I think that I didnt select the subtitles in DVD2ONE, is this the case or is it more in depth?

Kind Regards

Pete

I think that your problem is that you are trying to play the vobs rather than the "DVD" fro you HDD. If you play the "VIDEO_TS" file in WinDVD, this will play exactly as if it was a "real" DVD. Since it seems that you are playing the vobs without any .ifo files to instruct the player as to what is contained within them, it won't play the subtitles etc. Hope this helps.
