I have just bought a 250GB HD and HDadvance to back up these two games to HD. Problem is when I get to the interrogation mission none of the buttons work. I have tried compatibility modes but it always freezes. In Tomb Raider when ever I press select (to bring up my PDA) the game freezes as well. I am new to this HDadvance stuff so any help would appreciated.

The problem is that you need a smaller hard drive 200 GB being the most and 40 being the least. So you will have to replace your 250 GB harddrive with a 200.

I don't think that is the problem. I have 73 games on my HD and only these two seem to have problems. I have read on other forums that other people seem to be having the same problem even with smaller drive sizes. I was just hoping there would be a fix.

Mine froze last night, too - but I'm not sure what I was doing that caused it. It may have been using the PDA, too. I think I was trying to save, so that could have been the issue.

I have only a 120G drive and hdloader toxic using MC exploit, so I doubt the harddrive is an issue.

One thing I found curious - Hdloader said the size was only 2G. I thought that sounded a little small. How big is Legend for everyone else? Perhaps I need to re-install the game.

Tomb Raider Legends According to http://list.ps2hd.com/index.php should be 3.97GB

I checked that website, too. However, I placed the DVD in my PC and it showed the size as closer to 3.0 (between 2.9 - 3.2 depending on how you measure a Gig). So I think that listing may be incorrect. I know sometimes hdavance/loader round down, so if my hdloader says 2, it could actually be 2.9. Plus, that's the UK version and I'm playing US (even so, there shouldn't be that big a difference unless there are more "extras" like demos or more dummy files on the UK disc.)

Either way, I'll keep an eye on how mine plays and let everyone know if I have any other issues and what they might be.

Tried that. Seems a bit outdated though "June 2005" Just the same is happening. However I did notice that after playing Tomb Raider for a few more levels the PDA (select) works fine now. It must just be with the few first levels it freezes.

As for 24 the game. It am using the cheat to unlock all the levels so I could continue my game past the interrogation level. Only thing is you have to switch between video and level to follow what is going on. but at least I can play the game now.

Mine froze on the first level, so I think you're on to something. It's likely there's a freeze issue with the PDA (select button) in the early levels since it's happened to both of us.

I like to save a lot, and don't play it for long periods of time, so you're probably dead on with the freeze issue.

What level (area) did you guys have to get through before it stopped locking up on you... I'm at Peru (meet at the statue in the center of town then a bunch of guys with guns jump out) and it still does the lockup thing.

I'm playing off the disk right now because my friend likes to hit select instead of start, but really hate the long loads...

Thanks for the help.

Good timing guys. I got an 80 gig seagate with hd loader and I noticed this freezing on the first level as well. Doesn't seem to freeze in the mansion though. Didn't freeze with the pda the first time i played it either, just after a while and now it is constant. I have the multi 5 version though. Will try and see if passing the first level(s) will do the trick. Now on that shadow of colossus problem....

Here's an update for anybody else that might come in handy... I tried again at about the 30% completion level and now am having *no* problems loading off the HD. It can probably be done before that but I didn't feel like stopping every time I passed a level to re-boot onto the HD and check, heh.

(Mine was locking up from the moment it introduced it and told me to press select to bring it up.)

Im think it works just as the other person said that it will work exept the interigation parts so use a cheat code to unlock all mssions and just skip over that one or you could just use the disk for the one level.

Disc 2 in the 24: The Game box is in fact the first disc of the Season 3 DVD box set (iirc).
I haven't tried Tomb Raider on PS2 since I bought it for Xbox (and am running from the hard drive there).

Like many of you I got stuck at the interrogation level in 24 and was rather confused as to what was happening...
My last resort was to try booting off the disc, and lo and behold, it worked.
I ripped it to the hard drive (40gb) using the retail version of HDAdvance 3.0 which as mentioned here reported a size of 2gb, however using DVD Decrypter I ripped it to an ISO file of approx 3gb. Although I could theoretically continue past the first interrogation scene, I don't know if there are any more in the rest of the game (don't spoil it for me please). :)
Thus, I'm going to try dumping the ISO straight to the drive using WinHIIP. I'll let you know how I go.

I officialy played and beat both of the games 24 the game and tomb raider legend. Tomb raider legend worked fine for me and 24 the game worked exept for the innterigation level which i just played on the disc itself and not hdadvance but other then that it worked fine on the hdadvance.

OK - I have confirmed that there IS indeed, a lockup issue with the PDA on the first level using HD Loader.

The problem went away after I got to the Japan missions.

So a warning to all hdloader/advance people: you CAN lock up your game if you use the PDA (select button) during gameplay before you get to the Japan missions.

For the folks that haven't had a problem - lucky for you. You just didn't use the PDA before Japan. The problem is very real and happens as described above.

I find the PDA unuseful and there is no point of using it in the first place.
