ok so i looked around and didnt really find anything, but if this question has already been asked then maybe someone can just post a link but i have a digi cam that records into asf files.. and i was wondering if i can convert them into mpeg or even avi files. avi would be better cuz i am looking to make this into a dvd

DVD video uses MPEG-2, so surely your statement would make more sense if reversed?

Anything that can take input via directshow should work. Otherwise mencoder or ffmpeg should work.

what do you mean by directshow? Did you mean a direct plug coming from the camera into a plug somewhere on my computer?
