stonedawg...how long have you been burning?
memorex discs appear to burn correctly and you can view them for about six months before they start going down hill. I used memorex for awhile and then the discs started stalling and before i knew it i had to back up every memorex i had with different media.

Memorex gets a bad rep from the CMC discs they sell, but not everyone has problems. I've burned many, I've had no problems. Probably burned 100 of these over the years with only a handful of "coasters", and regardless of what people say, they don't go bad after 6mo. I Don't recommend using them though, as you can get higher grade media for pennies more per disc.

maybe try updating your AnyDVD if you havent already also rebooting sometimes helps...trust me...im work with computers in the air force and with alot of different things we use on our networks...just do a quick reboot sometimes cures the problems....but im not sayin that will 100% fix your problem....

@Live4God
Because DVDshrink is no longer updated, it can't handle the new sony or microvision copy protection being placed on some of the new movie releases, this can cause it to stop encoding or produce an error condition. DVD shrink can't handle this movie alone so.....
Keeping it FREE:
To get around this you could try a very good ripper/decrypter called DVDFab decrypter, it'a a whole movie ripper so you'll still need DVDshrink to reauthor the DVD if you want to remove any unwanted extras and shrink the files to fit onto a single layer DVD.Once DVDFab is done ripping, open the files using DVDshrink's open files tab and proceed using DVDshrink as usual.
get DVDFab decrypter here;
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm
Get it quicker here;
http://209.172.35.173/download/DVDFabDecrypter29.exe
Note: You might not need to do this with the current version of DVDFab, but....
If DVDshrink won't open the files ripped by DVDFab then you'll need to process them thru VobBlanker first (vobblanker will produce another set of files, put the files produced by vobblanker in another folder on you desktop and call it VIDEO_TS), once vobblanker is done open the files it produced using DVDshrink as described above.
get vobblanker here:
http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm
Or if you want to try the current beta version;
http://www.free-codecs.com/VobBlanker_download.htm

If you're curious???
The easiest way to get around the copy protection is to purchase Anydvd, it's a driver that runs in the backround helping DVDshrink crack the copy protection and produce a backup. It comes with a 21 day free trial, check it out here:

i have the same problem with dick and jane. I could'nt get past 1% before i recieved an I\O error message. I've been backing up for a while a just recently started having problems with an I\O error message when using dycrypt.
Question: Does Any DVD run in the back ground to help dycrypter\shink or just one of them?
Thanks

If you plan on trying anydvd with shrink or decrypter, I believe it's best used with shrink, but can also be used with DVD decrypter (with some changes made to some of DVD decrypter's settings to get them to work better together).
It's quicker to use shrink, just open the disk, reauthor if desired, it will rip/transcode the video files, then create an image file or hard disk folder that you can have autoburned to disk using DVD decrypter (for images) or nero.
DVD decrypter will do the same in terms of ripping the files to your HDD (iso image or hard disk folder in file mode), but you get the entire disk's contents or movie + IFOs, so depending on the outputs file size:
A)less than 4.7GB
You can use decrypter or nero to burn to DVD+/-R/RW media
B) greater than 4.7GB
You'll need DL media, or if burning to single layer DVD+/-Rs you'll need to open the files or the image with shrink to compress the files to fit.

I just cloned and watched Fun with Dick and Jane. Just make sure your AnyDVD is up to date, I used version 5.9.5.6 and it found 6 different types of copy protection on it. See below for that. Shrink should work fine as AnyDVD is the important one although I used CloneDVD2 2.8.9.2.
Video DVD (or CD) label: DVD_VIDEO
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!
RCE protection not found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Found & removed 7 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

This is to Johnl 123. I have DVDFab Express, DVDFab Platinum Express, and Shrink. When I burn Dick and Jane and go to Shrink I have the same problem with some of the other Sony ARccos movies. Dick and Jane shows about 7 Titles under main movie. I end up with no movie. When I try and copy full DVD,its just to large to copy. I hurd that DVDFab Express had an upgrade to that would copy the Sony movies, but I cant get it. Is it time to buy softeare to stay up to date, or is there still a free way to do it. I was wondering if I should change the settings in fab from iso to something else. danmax
