Sorry if this is similar, but i have read through varios forum but havn't found real answer.
I am using 1.4g celeron pc and using shrink it is taking me approx 2.5hrs to encode movie but to encode a copied movie only takes about 30mins.
Read one forum and looks like it only takes about 10 mins to complete.
Have checked my dma settings and they are ok.
Done reinstall and cleaned up system.

Please help

How much memory does your computer have? - can get by on 256Mb but 512Mb recommended.

Encoding times can vary considerably depending on movie (from 7 minutes to approx 1 hour - most are less than 30 minutes) the amount of compression used determines this. 2.5 hours is far too long unless you are doing a 'deep analysis' with Shrink.

A copied movie should not need to be run through Shrink.

Burning times with Nero are approx 15 minutes at 4x and less for 8x or higher.

your pc is on the under sourced side of things. If you really want to cut the encoding times you would be looking at a faster computer, with a better cpu, more ram..............

If that isnt in your budget than i guess you will have to make do until a time when you decide to upgrade

It all depends on your computer specs and how many rams. With Nero Recode 2, I can get it done roughly 45 minutes and with DVD-RB Pro + CCE, I can get it done roughly from 2 hrs and 1/2 - 3 hrs (depends on how big is the movie).

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

My full specs are 1.4g celeron 512 ram. Alkohol mentioned Nero recode 2. Does that mean i can recode through Nero and don't worry about shrink.

Thanks

shrink and recode are about the same program, made by the same person.

Alot of people like to use higher end chip sets, like 3.0 gig.Your 1.4 was good at one time but is slightly out dated now
