after the v12's started dropping like flies Sony installed there own laser fix into the v13+ ps2s so you do not need 1 .

A lot of the modchip installers do one for you for free when you get a modchip installed, and it never hurts to have one :)

im not sure what electronics experience you are basing this on but actually installing a laser fix on a v13+ will eliminate the laser fix installed by sony which is much better than any aftermarket 1 . you are moving backwards .

I have NEVER known a company that makes better parts for their stock system than what you can get aftermarket?
that is the whole reason that aftermarket parts exist.
He can get one, or he can trust Sony. To me it makes no difference.
I have one because i have a V12, and have never had a problem with it.
And the laser fix may work fine with a stock system, but adding a mod chip is a whole new ballgame because you create extra heat, and the chance for extra spikes in power to the laser.

Dude steimy's only trying to help, chill man. I agree with steimy that good aftermarket parts are usually better than stock, that's why the aftermarket parts exist.

as for gp376. i have no need to sit here and debate with you.
I never said the Sony laser fix would not work. I said above that the aftermarket laser fix was not needed.
I have been helping people here in the modding cummunity for years now. On this site and some others as well. So people know my reputation by now and i have no need to worry about the opinions of every newbie who comes along.

it is not mis-information. Many installers still put laser fixes in all slim PS2 models just to be safe.
It will not hurt anything to put a good aftermarket laser fix in a V13+ PSTwo, so where is the mis-information?
I do not pull apart PSTwo and play around with multi meters to test voltage. I don't need to, i have people who do that for me.
I am not offended when someone disagree's with me, everyone has their opinions. It is when people make it personal with smart a$$ coments that i get a bit upset.

when you put in your time helping people here"You have posted 5563 messages to our discussion forums since you created your account on 2 December 2004.", and get as many PM's a day asking for help as i do "So far you've received 429 private messages through our site". Then you will have EARNED your respect rather than just showing up and demanding it.

you have people that test ps2s for you ? you must be a very important person , but that just backs up what i said about you not knowing anything about what you are talking about .
and by the way , just because you are a post whore and have nothing better to do than sit on some1 elses forum all day means squat . in fact i feel sorry for you and your life .
i will stop posting now so say what you like , i never intended this to turn in to a argument but by your statements i hope others will see this and get a second opinion from an electronics expert rather than listen to you fact-less opinion . and that goes for other posts of yours i have read on this forum .

I think the mod should close this thread before more argument happens :)
Honestly though, if you don't value the opinions that people give in this forum, we can't change your mind and you can go somewhere else, you are the one making the call. I think you'll find that this is one of the best forums around the net after you've been to a few on the net ;)
